Waheed sworn in as President of Maldives

Vice President Dr.Hassan Waheed has been sworn in as President of Maldives .He signed several official documents after the swearing in ceremony. He has taken over the reins to maintain law and order until an appropriate arrangement is put in place. He has appealed for calm at this hour of emergency. He is an Ex UN official and a TV Anchor. He was the first to obtain a doctorate in Maldives.

“ During this dangerous situation facing the country, I support the peaceful efforts of a large number of people to protect the Maldivian Constitution and the law. I appeal to you to uphold the constitution and the law.”, Waheed said inhis message.
