SF’s case put off

he SF’s case of harbouring army deserters was put off for June 21 by Colombo High Court. Sarath Fernando and his Personla Assistant Haripriya de Silva are the accused in the case facing charges under Section 128and 133 of the Penal code for committing mutiny and insubordination by harbouring army deserters. PSC to release Report on MPs’ Propriety   

The report on the Parliamentary Select committee on Propriety, Discipline, Tradition and Security is to be released by the middle of July. The report would then be submitted to President Mahinda Rajapakse, news reports reveal.


It is learnt that members found violating code of conduct will be denied cabinet portfolios, foreign official visits. Requests will be made to party leader not to nominate them for elections as candidates. The Committee had interviewed ex Secretary Generals of Parliament, former Speakers- Loku Bandara and M.H.Mohamed. The proposals will be debated in Parliament and included in the Standing Orders.


The Members of the PSC are Dew Gunasekaar ( Chairman), Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, P.Dayaratne, Rauff Hakeem, Karu Jayasuriya, R.Sampanthan and Wijedasa Rajapakse.
