
Representatives of several trade unions met President Mahinda Rajapakse at temple trees yesterday. President Rajapakse was giving a hearing to them with a view to ascertaining their views on various issues that affect the life of the people prior to his draft for the new Budget for 2013.
The trade union leaders had discussed issues such as salary increase for employees in public and private sectors, reducing the prices of essential items. Western Province Governor Alavy Moulana, Finance Secretary Dr.P.B.Jaaysundara and Central Bank Governor A.N.Cabraal were present.
