Pakistan PM refuses to quit after conviction

Pakistan Prime Minister Seyed Yusuf Raza Gilani has refused to quit the post even after being convicted by Supreme Court for contempt of Court. The Supreme Court found him guilty of contempt of court for not complying with a Court order to reopen a case against President Azif Ali Zardari.

PM maintained that Zardari enjoys Presidential immunity. Meanwhile Opposition parties are increasingly pressurizing for his quitting as PM.  “ If the House decides to notify me, I will be honoured. I will leave that very moment. There is a mandate by the people. Bring a no confidence motion and pass it. I have not been convicted for   financial corruption, moral turpitude but for upholding the constitution.”, Gilani has categorically stated.
