President inaugurates ‘ Earth Hour’ programme

President Mahinda Rajaapkse inaugurated the ‘The Earth Hour Programme’ in the Western Province on Saturday. It was launched by the Ministry of Environment to mark the global programme to preserve energy.

Osama’s widows, daughters imprisoned

Osama bin Laden’s three widows and two daughters were sentenced to 45 day imprisonment by a Pakistani Court. They were also fined Rs10,000. Anal Ahmed Abduel, Fatch Khairah and Silham Salar are the three widows and two daughters are aged 17 and 25 respectively,

according to media reports.

The Court sentenced them sequel to their confession to the charges of impersonation, illegal entry into Pakistan and illegal stay in Pakistan. Court has further ordered that they be deported to the countries of their citizenship.
