Pakistan PM refuses to quit after conviction

Pakistan Prime Minister Seyed Yusuf Raza Gilani has refused to quit the post even after being convicted by Supreme Court for contempt of Court. “Jaffna May Day voice for lasting solution”:Ranil

 

Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has observed that the United National Party is to hold the May Day rally this year in Jaffna to voice for a lasting solution for the national problem without any prejudice to country’s territorial integrity.


He was addressing a meeting in the premises of Munniyappar temple in Poonagary on Saturday, April 29. Jaffna District UNP Parliamentarian Vijayakala Maheswaran also addressed the meeting. UNP entourage included General Secretary Tissa Attanaayke, Parlaimentarian Ravi Karunanaayke.  


Ranil Wicremasinghe stated that there are different twists given in different quarters as to the purpose of our holding the May Day rally in Jaffna this year. It is to ensure unity and not to divide. The theme is for a lasting political solution to the ethnic issue. People of the South and of the North are hold hands together for finding a solution not only for political solution but also for a solution to economic problems that affect the common man.
