Mulleriyawa killing; CID submits report

The CID submitted a report to the Court regarding the whereabouts of suspect Parliamentarian Duminda Silva.

The case came up for hearing before Colombo Chief Magistrate Prsanna Alwis. ASP Shani Abeysekera in his report to Court stated that he had recorded a statement by the father of the suspect Duminda. According to the affidavit, Duminda has to undergo another surgery during the course of the week at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

Court turned down a request by Counsel Tirantha Walalyaddha, PC, looking after the interests of the aggrieved party, to issue a warrant for the arrest of Duminda through the Interpol. Court held that it would arise only if CID informs it was unable to apprehend the suspect.

Responding to counsel Hemantha Warnakulasooriya’s pleading that Duminda was also a victim in the incidentand that the investigation reveals it, Court ordered that it was a matter for the Attorney General to determine for the reports are before him. AG will decide on who should be indicted.
