5-Day Konesar Nagar Valam

The five day Nagar Valam (procession) of Lord Konesar with His Consort Maathumai Ambal commenced Tuesday evening amidst chanting of Lord’s Name.

Lord Konesar and His consort were taken from the Kovil by devotees on shoulder chanting
religious hymns till the procession reached the Fort Frederick. From there they are taken in a decorated and illuminated car. People of Hindu and Buddhist faiths receive the deities with kumbam and arathy filled with devotion.

On the first day Lord Koneswar is to rest at Palaiyutru Murugan Temple for dharshan by people in the locality. On the second day, Koneswar is to stay at Orr’s hill Durkai Amman Temple. The Third day Lord Konesar is to stay at Sivan Kovil. The fourth day Konesar will stay at Pathirakali Amman Temple. The fifth day Lord Konesar with his consort Maathumai Ambal would return back to his abode.
