Pakistan PM refuses to quit after conviction

Pakistan Prime Minister Seyed Yusuf Raza Gilani has refused to quit the post even after being convicted by Supreme Court for contempt of Court. JHU seeks removal of Dambulle mosque

Jathika Hela Uramaya has sought the government to take steps to remove the Mosque in Dambulle since it is constructed illegally.


JHU made the request at a press briefing in Colombo. Addressing a press briefing, JHU Leader Ven Omalpe Sobitha stated that according to the Constitution, Buddhism must be protected by the government.

 

Western Provincial Council Minister of Enviornment Udaya Gamanpola said that the issue must be resolved through negotiation. Buddhist-Muslim relations have been sound in the country since colonial times. That relationship should not be affected, while resolving this issue.
