Economic Summit 2012 inauguration


Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2012 organized under the patronage of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held yesterday discussed the issue of ‘Positioning Sri Lanka in the Global Economy’. Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce  Susantha Ratnayake delivered the welcome address. Guest Speaker Columnist and Management Consultant Gurcharan Das addressed on the topic, ‘ Are there lessons for Sri Lanka from the experiences of the SAARC countries.  


World Bank South Asia Chief Economist Dr. Kalpana Kochhar delivering the key note address stated that developing countries including Sri Lanka face a bumpy ride ahead. Sri Lanka must implement policies to boost investor sentiment, regaining competitiveness, attracting FDIs, diversifying exports and building a strong foundation for sustainable growth. There is a lot of work to do in a difficult domestic and global arena. Female labour force rate is a difficult circumstance Lanka faces.
