Amnesty for 1414 convicts

1414 prisoners from thirty prisons in the country were granted Presidential amnesty on the Independence Day. They were selected for amnesty on a guideline formulated by the Ministry of Prison Reforms.
Priority was given to prisoners, who were serving a sentence since they could not pay a fine. Those serving a light sentence were also considered. Then the age beyond seventy was another criterion. Kith and kin of inmates in the Bogambara Prison were seen congregating in the premises to meet them as the regulations were relaxed.
