Ancient Hindu Manuscripts in digital form deposited with ACHC

 

Digitalized two thousand year old rich and rare Hindu religious manuscripts installed in hard drive were taken in procession from Companytheru Sivasubramaniya Swamy Temple and deposited at the Head Quarters of the All Ceylon Hindu Congress on Sunday.Devotees were holding Nanthy Flags of Lord Siva at the head of the procession where ceremonial Kudai and Aala Vatam were displayed according to tradition. Panniru Thirumurai were carried in a palanquin according to age old custom. ACHC President Kandiah Neelakandan carried them on his head with veneration. A solemn and religious fervor reigned everywhere.


All Ceylon Hindu Congress President Kandiah Neelakandan delivered the welcome address while General Secretary Dr. Muthiah Kathirkamanathan proposed the vote of thanks.
Addressing the event, Aanmeega Sudar Rishi Thondanathan explained that these rare and rich manuscripts on Hinduism have been preserved in a digitalized form in Pondicherry State under the patronage of the French Government. Following untiring efforts by his Guru Subramaniya Swamigal initially and subsequently by the present Head of the Hawai Saiva Aatheenam Velan Swamigal they were able to obtain two copies in hard drive. They have now been made available in Sri Lanka for scholarly perusal. Director of ACHC Hindu Research Centre Dr. Senchotselvar Aaruthirumurugan delivered a talk on the 'Significance of Thirumuraigal'. The event was organized under the auspices of All Ceylon Hindu Congress, Hindu Kurumar Ontriam and Colombo Saiva Munnetra Sangam.
